Most guides skip the China Southern VIP Lounge at T3, but it’s there for China Southern business and SkyTeam elites flying from Xi’an Xianyang’s Terminal 3.
The lounge sits airside in T3, so you clear security first and then follow China Southern / VIP Lounge signs. T3 handles a big chunk of domestic traffic at XIY, and this room runs on that template: functional seats, basic hot dishes, and drinks mainly limited to soft drinks and tea.
Hours generally track the China Southern bank in T3, roughly from early morning departures around 06:00 until the last evening flights. If you have a late-night departure after 22:00, don’t assume it stays open; staff tend to wind things down once the last CZ flight in the terminal finishes boarding.
Food is closer to a domestic business lounge buffet than a restaurant. Expect a few hot Chinese items at meal times, usually rice or noodles plus one or two meat dishes, and simple snacks like packaged biscuits and nuts. Prices are baked into your business-class ticket or elite access, so there’s no menu or paid upgrades once you’re inside.
Drinks lean non-alcoholic: big thermos jugs of hot water, tea bags, instant coffee sachets, and bottled soft drinks in a fridge. If you care about coffee quality, buy something from a chain in T3 landside or near the gates before heading in; figure on about 30–40 RMB for a latte out in the terminal versus free but basic instant inside.
Seating is mostly armchairs with small side tables, lined up in rows facing the TV screens. Power outlets can be scarce, so grab a seat near a wall socket as soon as you find one. Wi‑Fi uses the standard XIY login flow tied to your mobile number and boarding pass, and it’s good enough for email and messaging, less so for heavy streaming.
The main reason to use this lounge is to get away from the T3 gate areas during peak domestic banks around 08:00–10:00 and 17:00–20:00, when seating outside fills quickly. Build a 15–20 minute buffer before boarding time so you can walk from the lounge to far domestic gates without clock-watching.
