Beer-only bar and a 4-hour cap set the tone here

The Lounge VIP sits in the International side of the MAIN terminal at Viru Viru (VVI) and runs from first departure to last departure, with hours shifting as flight schedules do. It’s a contract lounge used by multiple programs, including American Express Platinum, and it feels more like a basic waiting room than a long-stay hangout or serious bar.

Access is post-security in the Main Terminal, International area, and Amex Platinum holders get in with the usual same-day boarding pass plus ID. Under Amex’s rules, stays are limited to a maximum of 4 hours per visit, so you can cover a medium connection but not a full workday or an overnight layover.

Alcohol policy here is blunt: complimentary drinks for Amex Platinum guests stop at beer, and anything else counts as an extra charge. Wine and spirits are available, but you pay out of pocket, which surprises people used to lounges where house wine and basic liquor are free. If you want more than a couple of lagers, the math quickly tilts toward grabbing a drink in the public concourse instead.

Food is the usual contract-lounge buffet aimed at covering one meal window during that 4-hour limit, so think light bites rather than a full restaurant replacement. Given MAIN terminal prices for sit-down meals, the spread can still be decent value if you already hold Amex Platinum or another membership that waives the entry fee. Don’t show up hungry expecting made-to-order plates or premium coffee gear; treat it as fuel and snacks.

Families get one big perk under the Amex Platinum rules: children under 13 enter free with an eligible adult, which can save a chunk of cash compared with buying separate breakfasts or dinners in the terminal. On a typical two-parent, two-kid international departure from VVI, that can mean four people eat for the cost of one annual card fee you already pay.

Watch timing closely on early-morning and late-night flights, because the “first departure–last departure” schedule means opening and closing can shift by day. Build in a backup plan in the MAIN terminal in case your 02:30 departure or delayed evening flight falls outside The Lounge VIP’s adjusted hours.
