BA flyers at VRN currently face no airline lounge; this Aspire room in T1 is basically “the option” rather than a treat.
The Catullo Lounge by Aspire sits in Terminal 1 on the lower departures level after security, just past the B gates and immediately after Masi Bar & Restaurant, so you hit it on the way toward boarding at VRN’s main pier. It’s airside, so you clear security first, then follow signs for B gates until you see the Aspire logo on the left. Access works via Priority Pass, Amex Platinum and other lounge networks, plus pay-at-door when capacity allows.
Hours here track typical VRN departures from early morning through late evening, roughly aligned with the first departures bank around 06:00 and closing after the last outbound flights, though schedules can flex with seasonal traffic. The space isn’t huge, so during peak morning and late afternoon waves around BA, easyJet and charter flights from T1, staff may meter Priority Pass walk-ins or turn away pay-per-use guests once all seats are taken.
Food is standard contract-lounge fare: expect cold snacks like packaged biscuits, crisps and maybe a couple of simple sandwiches, rather than a hot buffet with multiple mains. Coffee usually comes from an automatic machine, and soft drinks are from a self-serve fridge with cans of Coke, juices and bottled water. If you’re hungry enough to want a proper plate of pasta or a 10–12 EUR hot dish, you’re generally better off at Masi Bar & Restaurant right outside, then using the lounge mainly for a seat and Wi‑Fi.
Drinks follow the Amex listing closely: complimentary alcoholic options are beer, wine and spritz only, with spirits outside that free list and typically charged per 4 cl pour. That means no free gin and tonic or whisky, even if you’re used to that in larger Aspire locations like AMS or MAN. Staff usually keep one or two local wines open, so if you care about value, a glass of Veneto white and a spritz are what actually makes your Priority Pass swipe feel worthwhile here.
Amex Platinum terms cap your visit at 3 hours before departure, which matters on days when Verona’s construction triggers 60–90 minute delays. There’s a small complimentary luggage storage area inside the lounge, so you can set down a 23 kg checked-suitcase and step back out to Masi or the nearby duty-free rather than guarding your bags under a chair. Power sockets are scattered along the walls, but bring a Euro plug adapter; UK three‑pin won’t fit.
Watch out for knock‑on effects from the ongoing rebuild of Verona’s terminals, which in late 2023 and early 2024 left some BA passengers with zero lounge access at all. Signage to the lower-level lounge can be patchy while works shift, so if you don’t see “Catullo Lounge by Aspire” on the main board near B gates, ask at the information desk in T1. One last tip: if you only have a 35–40 minute gap before boarding from a B gate, skip the lounge and sit gate-side; the short walk plus potential queues at reception can eat half your time.
