ACTV Bus Line 15

Bus

Bus 20-30 min to Mestre

20–30 minutes from VCE to Mestre without going via Venezia Mestre FS

ACTV Bus Line 15 runs between Venice Marco Polo Airport (T1) and mainland Mestre in about 20–30 minutes, aimed more at residential areas than the main Venezia Mestre railway station. It’s a good fit if your hotel or apartment is in Mestre but away from the station cluster, or if you’re commuting to local neighborhoods like Carpenedo and Bissuola instead of heading into Venice itself.

The bus stop sits outside Arrivals at T1, signed for ACTV urban buses, usually sharing space with Line 5 and other routes. Line 15 typically runs from early morning into the evening; check the current timetable on arrival, as headways can stretch to around 30 minutes off-peak. You’re on a standard city bus, not a coach, so expect all-door boarding and standing room at busy times.

Tickets cost roughly the same as other ACTV urban fares from the airport, around €10 one-way as part of the “Aerobus” pricing, or less if you already hold a valid ACTV pass that covers the airport supplement. Buy from the ACTV machines in the arrivals hall, from the ticket office near the exit, or at some airport newsstands; drivers generally do not sell tickets on board here. Always validate your ticket in the little yellow or green machines as soon as you step on.

Compared with ACTV Line 5, which runs toward Piazzale Roma, Line 15 keeps you on the mainland and drops you in parts of Mestre that are awkward with luggage if you arrive via train. The last stop is usually in the Mestre Centro or nearby residential area, a short walk from mid-range hotels and local apartment blocks. If your booking shows a street east of the station toward Carpenedo, Line 15 often gets you closer than the airport express buses to Venezia Mestre FS.

Step-by-step from arrivals to ACTV Bus Line 15

  • 1. After exiting baggage claim in T1, walk straight to the ground transport area signs showing "Bus" and "ACTV"; this takes about 3–5 minutes.
  • 2. Stop at the ACTV ticket machines or the nearby ticket office and buy a ticket to Mestre (around €10 without a pass).
  • 3. Head outside to the marked ACTV bus stops; look for the pole or shelter listing "15 Mestre" in the timetable panel.
  • 4. When the bus arrives, board through any door and immediately validate your ticket in the yellow or green validator.
  • 5. Stay on for roughly 20–30 minutes depending on traffic, checking stop names on the onboard display for your specific Mestre neighborhood.
  • 6. Press the stop button one stop early, step off, and keep your ticket handy in case ACTV inspectors board at intermediate stops.

One practical tip: screenshot the ACTV Line 15 timetable and stop list over airport Wi‑Fi before you leave T1, so you’re not guessing which Mestre stop to use once your mobile data drops.
