Tea House

Gate-side tea break before security at Terminal 1

Tea House sits in Taipei Songshan’s Terminal 1 public area, so you can meet people before check-in or grab something while waiting for an airport bus or taxi. It focuses on Taiwanese-style teas and light bites rather than full meals, so think quick stop, not long lunch. Prices run in the mid-range for an airport café, with drinks typically around local chain levels rather than hotel-lobby markup.

Being landside in Terminal 1 means Tea House works well if your domestic flight check-in opens late; you can sit here with a NT$80–150 drink instead of standing by the counters. Expect classic hot tea, iced tea, and some simple snacks or pastries rather than full bentos. If you want a proper meal over NT$200–300, you’ll probably do better heading airside after security.

Order Taiwanese tea first: an oolong or high-mountain style brew usually lands in the NT$100–150 range and beats the generic coffee you’ll get from nearby chains. Cold drinks help in humid Taipei afternoons, while a hot pot of tea is good if you’re killing 45–60 minutes before boarding. Snacks tend to be portioned for one person rather than sharing plates, so plan on one item per person if you’re hungry.

Because Tea House is in Terminal 1, it’s mainly useful if you’re on domestic or cross-strait flights from that terminal; Terminal 2 passengers would lose extra time walking and re-clearing any lines on the other side. Seating is standard airport café tables, fine for a laptop session up to about an hour, but not a place to camp for half a day.

Tip: check your airline’s check-in opening time; if you’ve arrived at Songshan more than 2 hours early and you’re in Terminal 1, sit down at Tea House for a tea instead of standing near the counters watching the screens.
