Chia Te Bakery

T2

T2’s Chia Te sells the famous pineapple cakes everyone asks about.

Chia Te Bakery sits airside in Terminal T2, so you can grab boxes after security instead of hauling them from Taipei city. This is the same Chia Te brand from Nanjing East Road, and staff confirm the recipes match the downtown shop. Expect lines to spike before CI and BR long-haul departures in the evening bank from about 18:00 onward.

Signature pineapple cakes usually sell in boxed sets, often around 6, 12, or 20 pieces, with prices clearly labeled per box in both NT$ and approximate USD. You’ll also see other pastries like cranberry pineapple cakes and sun cakes in similar box sizes. Single pieces are sometimes stocked near the register if you just want a taste test instead of committing to a full gift box.

Stocks can dip late at night after the 22:00 wave of departures from T2, especially for the classic pineapple flavor. If you’re flying on an early CI or BR morning flight around 08:00–10:00, you usually get fresher stock and fewer crowds. Payment works fine with major credit cards plus EasyCard in many cases, but keep a backup card or some NT$ in case a terminal glitches.

One practical move: check your airline’s cabin baggage allowance, then buy your Chia Te box sized to slide under the seat so you’re not arguing about an extra carry-on at boarding.
