Main $$$$ Post-security

Gate-side in the Main Terminal, Burger 21 handles real meals fast.

This spot sits post-security in the Main Terminal at Tampa (TPA), so you can grab a burger and still be at most gates in under 5–10 minutes. It’s a sit-down counter-service setup, but the flow is quick enough for a 45–60 minute layover. Expect standard airport pricing in the $$ range: burgers usually land in the low-to-mid teens before tax and tip.

The menu leans hard into burgers and American comfort food. You’ll see beef, turkey, and sometimes veggie options, plus fries and shakes. Portions run bigger than what you’d get from a national fast-food chain in the same terminal, and a burger plus fries can easily fill you up for a 3–4 hour flight. If you don’t want a full meal, you can split a basket of fries or onion rings between two people.

Service speed matters here. During peak bank times around 6–9 a.m. and 4–7 p.m., expect a 10–20 minute wait from order to food in hand. Midday and late evening, your burger can show up in under 10 minutes. Staff are used to people flashing boarding passes with 30 minutes to spare, so they’ll usually give a realistic time estimate at the register if you ask for it.

Drink options include soft drinks and basic beer choices; count on airport markup, with a draft or bottle often running several dollars more than downtown Tampa. Shakes are thick and better saved for days when you’re not racing to a 30-minute connection, since they can slow you down both at the counter and getting through the cup at the gate.

Tip: If your group is 3–4 people, grab a single table first, then send one person to order for everyone; it saves you from circling for seats when the Main Terminal food court area gets tight at peak departure banks.
