Gate-side tequila bar in the Main Terminal

Right in Tampa International’s Main Terminal, 1942 Tequila Lounge sits post-security and runs on airport hours, so you can usually get a drink from late morning through the evening. It’s a Mexican-focused bar with a mid-range price point (think around $10–$18 for cocktails), aimed at people who actually want to sit and sip instead of grabbing a cheap beer at the gate.

The name tells you the focus: tequila. Expect a solid list that goes beyond house blanco, with recognizable labels and a few higher-end pours that can hit $20+ a shot. Margaritas and tequila-forward cocktails are the main draw, with flavors that lean more classic than sugary. If you’re not into agave, there are still basic beers and standard mixed drinks, but you’re paying Main Terminal bar pricing either way.

Food leans Mexican bar fare to back up the drinks. Think tacos, nachos, and shareable snacks that land in the $10–$18 range, enough to count as a small meal before a flight from TPA. Portions tend to be better than what you’ll get from a quick-serve spot under the same roof, and you’re paying for a real seat plus table service rather than a food court tray.

Seating is bar stools and a few surrounding tables within the Main Terminal post-security area, so you’re still in earshot of boarding calls. It’s fine for solo travelers with a carry-on under the bar and works for a quick pre-flight margarita, but it’s not a long-layover hangout like a full lounge. Figure on 30–45 minutes for a drink and a snack without feeling rushed.

Tip: If you have a tight departure from the Main Terminal, grab a seat close to the edge of 1942 Tequila Lounge facing the concourse so you can watch your gate while you finish your drink.
