Gate-side option in T1 when you forgot your shades
Sunglass Hut sits airside in Tenerife Sur’s T1, an easy stop if you’ve cleared security early and still have 10–15 minutes before boarding. It’s a standard mall-style unit: wall racks on both sides, central stands, and a single checkout counter, so you can scan the stock in under five minutes.
Brands here skew mainstream: expect Ray-Ban, Oakley, Prada, Versace and similar labels rather than niche designers. Pricing tracks typical European airport RRP, with basic Ray-Ban models usually in the €120–€180 range and higher-end fashion frames going north of €200. This is more “grab it now so you’re not squinting on arrival” than bargain hunting.
The shop keeps normal T1 hours, opening early for the morning departures bank around 06:00 and trading through the late-evening flights that push out after 21:00. That makes it a reliable last-stop option if your resort or hotel shops were closed or wiped out of decent frames.
Staff routinely handle basic adjustments, so they can usually tweak nose pads or tighten screws on non-Sunglass Hut frames in a couple of minutes. You’ll also find a few kids’ sizes and polarized options on a dedicated rack, handy if you’re heading straight into strong island sun and planning a day on Playa de las Américas.
Tip: Take a quick photo of the price tag and model code, then check your airline’s inflight magazine or app at the gate; if the onboard duty free undercuts it, you’ll know before you commit.
