Cafe and Tapas

Terminal T1 has a Cafe and Tapas that regulars ignore

You’ll find Cafe and Tapas airside in T1 at Tenerife Sur, one of those generic counters people walk past on the way to gates. It sits in the main departures area after security, so it’s an option if you’ve already cleared passport checks and don’t want to backtrack toward the check-in hall snacks.

The place runs through the core flight bank for UK and EU departures, generally early morning through late evening when TFS is busy. Food is standard Spanish-airport fare: basic sandwiches, some tortilla, pastries, and coffee from a push-button machine. Expect prices in the usual airport band, roughly €3–€4 for a coffee and €5–€8 for a sandwich or small plate.

There’s counter seating and a few tables right by the concourse, so you’re eating in full view of the T1 gate area rather than in a walled-off restaurant. That makes it workable for a 20–30 minute stop between boarding calls, but not great if you want quiet or need to jump on a call. Power outlets are hit-or-miss, and Wi‑Fi is the standard airport network shared with the rest of departures.

The menu leans on pre-made items held in a refrigerated display, then heated. That speeds things up, but flavor tends to match expectations for high-volume airport food at a minor holiday hub like Tenerife Sur. If you care more about speed than taste, grab a simple ham-and-cheese sandwich or a croissant and move on; skip anything that looks like it has been sitting under the lights too long.

Practical tip: if your gate is in the farther end of T1, order to go and start walking; it’s roughly a 5–10 minute stroll from the central Cafe and Tapas area to some outer Schengen gates, and boarding at TFS often starts a solid 30 minutes before departure.
