T1 $$$$ Post-security

Gate-side basics at Relay in T1

Right after security in Terminal T1, Relay is the quick grab-and-go stop for Salzburg Airport. It sits in the post-security area serving short-haul Schengen flights, so you can duck in on the way to boarding without backtracking. Think newsstand first, snack shop second, and don’t expect seating or hot food here.

Prices sit in the low airport range ($ tier): bottled drinks, chips, and candy usually hover in the €2–€4 bracket, and basic travel items like adapters or headphones jump into the high single digits. It’s still cheaper than buying last-minute on board with many European carriers, especially for water and snacks.

Relay carries the usual airport mix: international magazines, German-language newspapers, paperbacks, plus a wall of bottled water and soft drinks up to 0.5L. You’ll also see single-serve chocolates, gum, and small bags of nuts. For flights under two hours out of T1, this is enough to build a simple DIY snack kit instead of relying on a buy-on-board menu.

As a convenience store, it also stocks small but useful items: plug adapters for EU sockets, powerbanks, basic phone cables, and a few travel-sized toiletries. If you forgot a toothbrush or deodorant and you’re already past security in T1, Relay is your realistic last chance before your gate. Don’t expect full-sized cosmetics or niche tech; think emergency coverage only.

Hours track the T1 flight schedule, opening before the first wave of morning departures (often around 05:00–06:00) and staying open into the evening bank, though exact times flex with the timetable. If you’re on a late-night seasonal charter from T1, check the day’s schedule; earlier closures can happen outside peak season.

Tip: buy a 0.5L water and any powerbank you need here in T1 before boarding; both usually cost less than the equivalent sold on the plane.
