Aélia duty free

Duty Free

Aélia sits just past security with the usual duty free mix

You hit Aélia duty free right after security at Strasbourg Airport, before the gates split off. It’s the standard walk-through layout: you pass through the shop on the way to departures, so plan an extra 5–10 minutes if you actually want to look at anything instead of just weaving through.

Expect the classic duty free lineup: French wine and Crémant d’Alsace, big-brand perfumes, tobacco, chocolate, and a wall of spirits with the usual 1-litre bottle deals. Pricing on alcohol and cosmetics tracks typical EU airport duty free levels; spirits and Champagne can run 10–20% under downtown Strasbourg supermarket labels, while cosmetics mostly match big chain perfumeries.

Alsace shows up in the product mix: you’ll see regional wines like Riesling and Gewurztraminer, plus giftable food items such as local biscuits and honey. Packaged food is mainly shelf-stable, so no issue with carrying it on a 2–3 hour connecting run. If you’re tight on space, stick to flat items like chocolate bars instead of heavy glass jars.

Staff usually switch between French, German, and English without drama, which helps if you’re sorting out VAT rules or asking about liquid allowances for a Schengen–non-Schengen connection. Keep your boarding pass handy: they scan it at the till to confirm your route and apply the correct duty/tax setup.

Practical tip: do liquids here last; don’t buy large bottles if you still have another security check on a non-Schengen connection, as 1-litre bottles can get binned at the next checkpoint.
