Terminal Parking Lot

Surface lot

Thirty seconds from curb to check-in, this is the lot

The Terminal Parking Lot at Henry E. Rohlsen (STX) sits directly in front of the Main terminal, a short walk of under a minute from most airline check-in counters. It’s a single surface lot that handles both short- and long-term parking, so daily and overnight users all park in the same rows. Think small-island setup: one public lot, no remote garages, and no shuttle buses to plan around.

All public parking at STX funnels into this one on-site surface lot, with no official off-airport alternatives listed by the Virgin Islands Port Authority. That means cruise-style options like park-and-ride simply aren’t a thing here. If you’re used to mainland airports with three garages and four discount lots, reset expectations: at STX you turn into the terminal road, follow the signs for “Parking,” and you’re basically there.

A third-party parking guide notes that some common U.S. credit cards do not work at the STX parking facility, specifically calling out that a few mainland cards “won’t work their magic” at the pay system. Locals and frequent visitors mention the same gap: you might tap or swipe a familiar card and get declined, even though it works everywhere else on St. Croix. That’s an annoyance if you’re trying to exit the lot on a tight schedule.

Because of that payment quirk, at least one guide recommends bringing a backup method, such as cash or a second credit card from a different bank, when using the Terminal Parking Lot. The setup is otherwise straightforward: drive in, grab a ticket or use the entry system, park in any unmarked space, and walk straight to the Main terminal entrance in under a minute. Tip: before you fly in, snap a photo of the card you plan to use and pack one backup so you aren’t stuck at the exit gate improvising.
