T1 kebab stop that most STR guides still ignore
DönAir sits in Terminal T1 at Stuttgart Airport, but it barely shows up in English-language reviews, so you’re going in without much crowdsourced intel. That alone makes it useful if you’re tired of the same pre-flight sandwiches near the main T1 check-in islands. Expect a standard airport kebab counter setup: order at the till, wait a few minutes, and eat at nearby shared seating in the T1 landside area.
Prices run in the typical German-airport range: think roughly €6–€9 for a döner-style wrap or pita, and more if they offer combo deals with a soft drink. That puts it below full-service sit-down spots in T1, and usually similar to grabbing a burger in the same terminal. If you just want something more substantial than a pastry without committing to a 45‑minute restaurant stop, this pricing tier fits.
Because DönAir is in T1, it works best for passengers flying Eurowings and other carriers that commonly use this terminal, or anyone being dropped off early on the departures level. If you’re departing from T3 or T4 and thinking about walking over, budget at least 10–15 minutes each way through the public landside corridors. You still need plenty of time for security, especially at STR in the early-morning bank between 06:00 and 08:30.
With no consistent review pattern, go in expecting a straightforward döner or dürüm, not a destination meal. Use it as your quick meat-and-bread option when the T1 bakery queues are stacking up 10–15 deep. Watch the counter: if the spits look fresh and the turnover is brisk, that’s usually the right moment to order a classic kebab rather than anything more elaborate.
Tip: eat at DönAir before security in T1, then grab only water or coffee airside so you’re not stuck with a more expensive last-minute snack run near the gates.
