Souvenirs

Union Jack mugs and Big Ben magnets line the front of discover London in Stansted’s main departures area. This is the classic last-minute souvenir stop once you’re through security, before you hit the main sequence of food outlets and duty free near the gates. Think gift shop more than serious shopping: quick in-and-out buys under £20, lots of London branding, and a tight floor space that fills up when two Ryanair flights board at once.

Post-security placement means prices lean touristy: expect £6–£10 for T-shirts, £4–£7 for keyrings, and around £8–£15 for hoodies and tote bags. Stock skews hard into red buses, black cabs, Underground logos, and London skyline prints. Kids’ bits are easy wins here too, with soft toys and mini buses around the £8 mark. Quality is standard airport gift-shop level, not designer, so buy for fun more than longevity.

Staff usually move quickly at peak morning banks (05:30–09:00) when the short-haul wave runs through. Packaging is carry-on friendly: small boxes of biscuits, tea tins, and chocolate bars that slide into a backpack without drama. If you need something that actually says “Stansted,” options are thinner; branding leans generic “London” rather than airport-specific merch.

Tip: hit discover London before you walk down to outlying gates like 40–50; walking back adds 10–15 minutes that’s better spent in the boarding queue.
