Gate-side books in Terminal 2

Just past security in Terminal 2, Hudson Booksellers gives you a real bookstore option in an airport that leans heavy on fast food and kiosks. You’ll see it on the concourse used by Southwest gates, with shelves of paperbacks facing the main walkway. This is your last solid shot at print before you board.

Figure on standard airport pricing: most new-release paperbacks sit in the $15–$20 range, hardcovers closer to $30. The store usually stocks current bestsellers, plus a rack of magazines and a few STL postcards by the register. If your boarding pass says Terminal 1, don’t rely on hopping over; the terminals at STL use separate security checkpoints.

Selection leans mainstream: big-name fiction, business titles, and predictable airport nonfiction by the front door. There’s a small kids’ section along one wall, plus puzzle books and Sudoku near the magazines. Snacks and bottled drinks line the lower shelves, priced roughly a dollar or two higher than what you’d see off-airport.

Hours track the Southwest schedule: expect doors open by around 5:00 a.m. for the first wave of departures, with lights still on for evening flights after 8:00 p.m., especially Sunday through Friday. If you land late on a Saturday, don’t count on it staying open past the last main bank of departures.

Tip: If you want time to actually skim the shelves, stop here right after clearing Terminal 2 security instead of waiting until your Southwest boarding group is already lining up at the gate.
