Five-minute walk from T1 passport control to Duty Free Shop
This Duty Free Shop sits airside in Terminal T1, just past security and immigration, so you can shop after clearing formalities. It’s one of the first larger stores you hit before the main gate clusters, handy if you still need gifts or basic travel supplies before boarding.
Alcohol, cigarettes, perfume, and boxed chocolates make up most of the shelves, with prices in hard currency and Egyptian pounds. Expect higher-than-city rates on spirits and tobacco, but still better value than buying on board. It’s the standard airport duty free mix, not a place for rare bottles or niche brands.
Snacks, soft drinks, and a small range of toiletries line one side of the shop, useful if you forgot toothpaste, deodorant, or need extra sunscreen before a Red Sea layover. Don’t depend on it for electronics beyond basic headphones, chargers, and power adapters; specialist gadgets or brand-name accessories are limited.
Staff generally process payments quickly, but lines can spike when multiple T1 departures to Europe and the Gulf close boarding within the same 30–40 minute window. Cards are accepted alongside cash, though chip-and-PIN terminals sometimes run slower during peak evening banks. Give yourself a 10-minute buffer here before your posted boarding time.
Tip: If you’re flying from T1 and want alcohol or cigarettes, buy here rather than at smaller satellite kiosks near some gates, which often carry fewer brands and can close early when a flight is delayed.
