Madero

Gate-side in Terminal 1, Madero is the airport burger stop.

Madero sits airside in Terminal 1 at Salvador (SSA), so you clear security first and then find it along the main departures concourse. It runs through the main flight banks, typically opening by morning departures and staying open into the late evening wave, covering most GOL, LATAM, and Azul flights. Seating faces the concourse, so you can keep an eye on boarding screens while you eat.

Menu focus is burgers, sandwiches, and steaks, with prices higher than city locations: expect a burger combo with fries and a soft drink to land in the R$60–R$90 range. Portions run generous by airport standards, and mains usually arrive in under 20 minutes, which works for a 60–90 minute connection. There’s table service plus a bar counter for solo diners who want to be in and out quickly.

Standard order is a cheeseburger or “Madero” house burger, cooked to a medium-style doneness unless you ask otherwise and served with thin fries. You’ll also see grilled chicken sandwiches, a couple of pasta dishes, and at least one steak plate hovering around the R$80–R$120 mark. Desserts lean classic Brazilian café: petit gâteau, ice cream, and sometimes a dulce de leche option, usually under R$30.

Drinks list covers draft beer, bottled beer, basic cocktails, and non-alcoholic choices like fresh juices and soft drinks, most in the R$8–R$25 bracket. Wine options are limited but typically include at least one Chilean red and one white by the glass. If you’re short on time, grab a soft drink or beer at the bar counter and skip dessert; staff can usually close you out in under five minutes if you mention an exact boarding time.

Practical tip: give yourself at least 45 minutes from being seated to scheduled boarding if you order a cooked main like steak; burgers alone usually fit into a 25–30 minute stop in Terminal 1.
