World Duty Free

T1

Gate side in T1, this is your only duty-free stop

World Duty Free sits airside in Southampton T1, past security and before the small cluster of departure gates. It’s compact, and you’ll walk through it on the way to boarding, so you don’t need to detour. Think 5–10 minutes to scan shelves if your flight is already showing “Go to gate.”

Liquor shelves carry the usual 1L spirits from the big brands, often with 2-for-£XX promos that beat downtown UK pricing by a few pounds. You’ll find standard Scotch, gin, vodka, and rum, but not many niche or single-cask bottles. If you care about something specific, assume they won’t have it and buy in town first.

The cosmetics and skincare section runs heavy on mainstream names you’d see in any UK high street, with travel-size kits and gift sets under £30. Perfume ranges from small 30ml testers to larger 100ml bottles, sometimes bundled with bonus minis. It’s fine for a last-minute present, but not for hunting rare lines.

Snacks sit near the tills: multipack chocolate, shortbread tins, and share bags priced a bit higher than a regular supermarket but acceptable for airport timing. There’s also a modest wall of cigarettes and rolling tobacco behind the counter, subject to standard UK/EU allowance rules.

Staff usually move people through quickly, but queues can stack up in the 30 minutes before a busy mid-morning departure wave. One tip: grab what you want on the walk in, then use contactless at the first free till to avoid getting stuck behind complex tobacco or perfume purchases.
