Most people at SNU get dropped right at T1’s front door
Abel Santamaría International (SNU) runs on a single terminal, T1, and “Terminal Forecourt Parking” basically means surface spaces directly in front of that building. There’s no multi-storey garage, no shuttle, and no documented long line of short-stay bays like you’d see at a big hub. Expect a small, open-air lot at ground level that sits only a short walk from the T1 entrance used for all departures and arrivals.
Signage on site points to public parking in front of T1, but published details like exact tariffs, hourly caps, and maximum stay limits are not listed on official airport pages as of 2024. This is a straightforward surface lot layout: park in marked bays, walk a couple of dozen meters to the doors, and pay whatever posted rates the local operator has set that day in CUP or sometimes EUR/USD. Do not expect online pre-booking or plate-recognition systems here.
Security at SNU’s forecourt area is basic: T1’s front approach road has vehicle control, and the lot itself is in direct line of sight of terminal staff and police, but you’re still leaving the car outdoors in a standard surface lot. Lighting poles are visible in recent 2023–2024 trip videos, so late-evening flights like CU domestic departures after 18:00 should still see a lit path between the car and the terminal doors.
Facilities around the lot are minimal. There is no marked covered walkway, no dedicated pedestrian bridge, and no separate multi-row payment center; payment, if charged, typically happens at a small booth or kiosk near the T1 curb or via an attendant on duty when flights arrive from Havana or international points such as Miami. There are no EV chargers, no height limits, and spaces are mixed-use for regular cars and small vans.
Because almost every public SNU guide from 2022–2024 talks about taxis and private transfers, treat Terminal Forecourt Parking as a same-day or short-trip option, not a weeks-long storage spot. Practical tip: arrive 20–30 minutes earlier than you normally would, give yourself time to locate the entrance off the main access road to T1, and bring small cash in local or hard currency in case card terminals are offline.
