Gate-side sit-down in the Departures Lounge, but temper expectations
The Sheridan Bar & Restaurant sits airside in Shannon’s Main Terminal Departures Lounge, so it’s the main sit-down option after security if you’ve already cleared the single checkpoint. It’s a combined bar and restaurant, with breakfast and bar service starting early for the 04:00am wave of US-bound departures. If you want a table and cutlery before boarding from the Main Terminal, this is where you end up.
Hours run long: bar service 04:00am–12:00pm, breakfast 04:00am–12:00pm, then lunch and dinner from 12:00pm until the last flight departs. Prices sit in the mid-range ($$), but several TripAdvisor reviews call the food “extremely overpriced” for what you get. One reviewer flat-out described their meal as “very poor… microwaved and tasteless,” so walk in with a realistic bar, not a special-occasion mindset.
On the upside, another traveller specifically mentioned their food was fresh, and TripAdvisor notes they cover breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks in the same Departures Lounge space. If you have kids or a group and want one check instead of juggling multiple takeaway stands in the Main Terminal, that single bill can still be worth paying. Service speed varies, so on a 45-minute sit you should stick to simple mains or sandwiches over anything that looks like it needs extra prep.
The signature order is an Irish Coffee, which at an airport bar table in Shannon at 06:30am at least feels on-theme. Use the food menu mainly for basics: eggs and toast at breakfast, or a burger and chips later in the day. Regulars on review sites basically treat Sheridan as the “you’re already airside and hungry” option, not a place to plan around.
Tip: If your departure from the Main Terminal is under 60 minutes away, grab an Irish Coffee at the bar, skip hot mains, and keep an eye on the screens in the Departures Lounge from your seat.
