Terminal A’s California Pizza Kitchen is the known unknown
Locals see the California Pizza Kitchen logo at Gate 5 and assume it’s the same as the dozens around Orange County, but frequent flyers haven’t really written this specific SNA airside outpost up. It sits post-security in Terminal A, a short walk from the A4–A7 cluster, so it’s one of the few sit-down options before early Southwest and American departures.
Menu boards here track the mainland CPK playbook: individual pizzas, salads, and pastas in the $15–$23 range, plus soft drinks and usually a short beer and wine list. Figure about 30–40 minutes for a seated meal if your flight boards at A5 or A6; build more buffer if you’re walking back toward the A1–A2 gates. Portions tend to be larger than grab-and-go spots near security, so plan one full meal rather than “just a snack.”
Because there’s almost no Reddit or FlyerTalk noise on this SNA location, treat it like a standard mall CPK and stick to known menu hits: barbecue chicken or Margherita pizza, Caesar salad, or a basic pepperoni if you’re flying with kids. Expect airport pricing with about a 20–30% markup versus off-airport CPKs in Irvine or Costa Mesa. If your layover is under 45 minutes, ask up front how long pizzas are running before you sit.
Hours generally mirror peak traffic in Terminal A, with opening around the first wave of 6:00–7:00 a.m. departures and closing after the last evening banks near 9:00–10:00 p.m., but SNA can go quiet early. If you land on the last American arrival around 10 p.m., assume the kitchen may already be shutting down and have a backup like the smaller snack kiosks closer to Gate 3.
Tip: Seats with power outlets are limited along the wall near the bar area at Gate 5, so if you need to charge a laptop before an A6 red-eye, plug in first, then order.
