Rideshare zone

Door 1 at Terminal B is the landmark for rideshares

The TNC Ride App Pickup Zone at Sacramento International Airport sits just outside Door 1 on the ground transportation curb at Terminal B. If you land at Terminal A, you either walk the signed path across the parking garages to B in about 8–10 minutes, or take the inter-terminal shuttle that loops every 10–15 minutes.

All the big apps use this zone: Uber, Lyft, and Wingz are allowed to pick up at SMF, and the airport adds a per-ride fee that’s already baked into your fare estimate. Weekend late-night prices from SMF to downtown Sacramento (about 12 miles) often run in the $25–$40 range before surge, while peak weekday rush hours on I-5 can push that higher.

Once you grab your checked bag at Terminal B baggage claim (carousels 1–8), follow the “Ride App Pickup” signs toward Door 1 on the arrivals level; you stay on the same level as baggage claim and walk less than 3 minutes to the marked curb. At Terminal A, baggage claim sits one level below ticketing, and you exit near Doors 1–3, then follow signs for Terminal B and ground transportation to reach the shared rideshare curb.

The airport separates regular taxis and ride apps, so your driver can’t meet you at the usual taxi stand outside Terminal A; they must stage in the official Ride App Pickup Zone by Terminal B. The pickup area is painted and signed specifically for TNCs, and drivers risk a citation from airport police if they try to grab you in the parking garage or on the departures level.

Wait times at the pickup zone run under 10 minutes most evenings, but airline banks around 10:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. can stack arrivals from Southwest, Delta, and United, which eats into app availability and triggers surge pricing. If your flight lands during one of those banks, watch the fare for 5 minutes; prices sometimes drop $5–$10 once the first wave of riders clears.

One last tip: order the ride only after you walk out of Terminal B’s Door 1 and can see the numbered pickup posts, then text your driver which post you’re standing near; that usually cuts down on loop-arounds and saves you 5–7 minutes of curbside waiting.
