Café

SLU is tiny, so Café is basically your on-site option

George F. L. Charles Airport handles around 195,000 passengers a year and is often described as “more like a regional strip,” so expectations for food are low. Café sits airside in the small departures area, serving simple snacks and drinks for people on regional hops, mainly LIAT and inter-island services. Think basic sandwiches, patties, and packaged chips rather than full meals.

Prices run higher than in Castries: expect around EC$10–15 for a soft drink or bottled water and EC$20–30 for a light bite like a sandwich or pastry. There’s usually a small fridge with bottled juices and sodas, plus a basic coffee setup. If you want proper espresso, get it in town before heading to the airport; here you’re looking at basic drip-style coffee or instant.

SLU has a single short runway of 1,898 meters and only a handful of flights at peak times, so Café opens around flight banks rather than 24/7. Aim to arrive 60–90 minutes before departure and expect it to be open during morning and afternoon waves, especially for flights to Barbados, Martinique, or other islands. Late-evening or very early-morning departures may find the shutters down.

Food quality reports for SLU overall sit in the 3–3.5 out of 5 range on review sites, which tracks with what you’ll likely get here: passable but forgettable. Use Café for a last cold drink, a snack to hold you for a 45–60 minute hop, or to spend remaining EC cash before heading to a USD-priced destination. Don’t plan your only real meal of the day around this stop.

Tip: eat properly in Castries or at your hotel, then use Café for backup only; assume island-time service and give yourself at least 10 extra minutes in case there’s a short queue before boarding starts.
