International Currency Exchange Arrivals

Arrivals hall cash window right after customs in T

International Currency Exchange Arrivals sits in the public arrivals area at Skopje International Airport’s Terminal T, just past the sliding doors from customs. It’s one of the first counters you see after baggage belt 1, useful if you land with zero Macedonian denars and need cash for the A1 airport bus into the city (220 MKD as of 2024) or a taxi. The counter focuses on basic buy/sell transactions rather than banking-style services.

Hours roughly track the flight banks into SKP, with the counter commonly open for early-morning arrivals before 06:00 and staying active late into the evening when Wizz Air and Turkish Airlines flights land. Still, gaps happen during quiet midday stretches. If you arrive on a 02:30 red-eye, don’t assume it’s staffed; check during baggage claim and have a backup card ready.

Rates at arrivals desks in smaller European airports usually run a few percentage points worse than city-centre exchanges, and International Currency Exchange Arrivals is unlikely to be the exception. For small amounts (say 20–50 EUR converted to MKD) the convenience tax is manageable; for anything larger, consider using an ATM in the same arrivals hall or changing more money in Skopje itself. Fees and margins change often, so read the rate board before signing anything.

One practical play: change just enough here to cover the fixed-fare airport bus or a 20–30 minute taxi into town, then handle the rest at an in-city ATM or bank once you reach central Skopje.
