Southwest owns most of the gates along SJC’s Terminal B south end

Terminal B runs as the southern stretch of San Jose’s long, straight concourse, with Southwest Airlines using the bulk of the gates and Alaska and Spirit filling in the rest. The building connects airside with Terminal A, but B itself handles a big share of SJC’s traffic and feels like the main corridor if your boarding pass shows a B-gate number in the 20s or 30s.

Security for Terminal B sits on the south side of the airport, and once you clear it you stay in a linear hallway that pulls you past gates B20 through the low 30s. Alaska Airlines and Spirit Airlines operate alongside Southwest here, so a mixed-carrier itinerary can still keep you entirely inside B if your connections hit, say, B22 and B28. If you land in Terminal A, you can walk airside to B without re-clearing security, but plan 10–15 minutes for that stroll.

Starbucks and Peet’s Coffee anchor the caffeine situation in Terminal B, with one or the other visible within a few minutes’ walk of most B-gates in the 20–30 range. Einstein Bros. Bagels and Subway help with quick, under-$15 breakfast or lunch runs when you just need something you can carry to B26 or B30. For something heavier, Smashburger sits in the post-security stretch and usually runs around $12–$18 for a burger, fries, and drink.

Gordon Biersch Brewery and Tres Gringos Cantina cover sit-down food and drinks in Terminal B, giving you a place to park near the middle B-gates while watching boarding groups form at nearby doors. Hawaiian Poke Bowl and Sushi Boat add rice-and-fish options if you want something lighter than a burger before a Southwest hop to LAS or an Alaska run up to SEA. Red Mango brings frozen yogurt into the mix for under-$7 dessert when your flight out of B29 is delayed an hour.

Vino Volo in Terminal B works as the main wine bar, with by-the-glass pours often hovering in the $12–$18 range and small plates that can fill in as a light meal before an evening departure from B31. The Clubhouse, separate from The Club SJC lounge, functions as another sit-down spot, so you can still get a proper meal even if you don’t have lounge access. If you prefer to grab and go, most restaurants along B’s line can pack your food so you eat at the gate.

The Club SJC lounge in Terminal B sits airside near the B-gate area, serving cardholders and day-pass guests looking for a quieter place than the main seating zones beside B24 and B25. Expect standard lounge fare: snacks, basic hot items, and soft drinks, with alcoholic drinks included once you’re checked in. If you’re flying early morning on Alaska or Southwest, getting into The Club before a 6:30 a.m. departure can make those first couple of hours more tolerable.

On the retail side, Greenlee’s Bakery shows up twice in Terminal B, with one kiosk at Gate 26 and another near Gate 31 for last-minute pastries. Hudson at Gate 21 and SJC Essentials Mini Mart cover the usual magazines-and-snacks run when boarding is already on Group B. Bay Sports Co., Rip Curl, San José Marketplace, San José Socks, Shop Consciously, Poppy’s Essentials Market, Sunset News, and See’s Candies round out the shopping line if you want local gear or boxed chocolates before heading to a family visit out of B27.

For timing, build a 60–75 minute buffer from curb to gate in Terminal B during morning rushes tied to 7–9 a.m. Southwest and Alaska departures. Security can bunch up quickly at the south checkpoint, and the straight-line layout means you might still have a 5–10 minute walk down to gates in the high 20s or low 30s once you clear the bins.
