Gate A-area mainstay for snacks and magazines
This Hudson News in Terminal A sits airside after security, handy if you’re heading to the A10–A18 gates and realize you forgot something basic. It runs typical airport hours, roughly from the first morning departures to the last evening flights, so you can usually grab water and gum on a 6 a.m. or 10 p.m. departure.
Expect standard grab-and-go: bottled drinks in the $3–$5 range, chips and candy around $2–$6, and basic travel items like phone cables, neck pillows, and headphones. If you need a Bay Area souvenir last-minute, they stock Golden State and 49ers gear plus San Jose-branded mugs and keychains near the front racks.
Print is the other reason to stop: national newspapers, tech and business magazines, and a decent run of crosswords and puzzle books. You’ll also find paperbacks, usually including at least a couple of Silicon Valley and startup titles, which fits the SJC crowd. Prices sit at usual cover price with the standard airport markup on snacks rather than books.
Lines spike right after TSA opens and again 30–45 minutes before big bank departures in Terminal A, especially on weekday mornings. If you just need water, there’s often a cooler near the entrance so you can be in and out in under 2 minutes.
Tip: Hit Hudson News in Terminal A right after security instead of waiting until you reach gate A10–A18; stock is better earlier in the day and you won’t be stuck in a pre-boarding rush line.
