The Brit Bar

A

The last airport outpost of Britannia Arms is in Terminal A

The Brit Bar in Terminal A sits airside, past security, as the airport spin-off of downtown San Jose’s Britannia Arms pub and is already on the list to be removed in the current concession refresh. You’ll find it along the A concourse near other sit-down options, and it runs on typical airport bar hours tied to flight banks, roughly early morning through late evening. If you knew the Brit from Santa Clara Street, this is the same core idea: drafts, basic mixed drinks, and pub snacks instead of a quick grab-and-go cooler.

Terminal A at SJC is smaller than B, so The Brit Bar quickly becomes the de facto option if you want a real seat and a pint before flights on airlines like American and Alaska that use this side of the airport. Expect standard domestic beer taps plus a few imports, usually in the $9–$14 range, and simple bar food in the $12–$20 range depending on portion size. Think wings, burgers, and fries more than anything that feels like the full Britannia menu downtown.

San Jose Spotlight has already confirmed that The Brit Bar is one of 14 spots slated to be replaced in the airport’s concession overhaul, grouped in the same “forced to leave” bucket as San Jose Joe’s. That means long-term consistency is not guaranteed, and staffing or menu depth can feel like end-of-contract mode. If you’re tight on time before a flight out of Gate 1 through 9, factor in that a cooked order can take 15–25 minutes when the bar is busy.

Practical tip: if your SJC departure is from Terminal A and you want a sit-down drink, stop at The Brit Bar before you walk toward the far end gates; it’s easier to keep an eye on the departure screens there than to backtrack 5–10 minutes once you’re at the tip of the concourse.
