Terminal A loses San Jose Joe’s under the new concessions plan

San Jose Joe’s in Terminal A sits past security near the older A gates, but city plans mean the Original Joe’s offshoot leaves the airport as new operators take over nearly half of SJC’s food spots. If you still see the sign up, this is a last-chance stop for a sit-down meal tied directly to a long-time downtown San Jose name.

The menu mirrors Original Joe’s basics: diner-style eggs and bacon in the morning, burgers and sandwiches at lunch, and pasta or cutlet-style plates at dinner, all priced in the $15–$25 range before tip. Bar seating usually moves faster than the tables, and you can grab a quick burger and beer within about 30 minutes if your flight boards at one of the lower A gates.

Service runs through the core bank of departures, roughly from the first 6:00 a.m. flights through the late-evening runs toward 9:00–10:00 p.m., though closing can slide earlier on quiet nights. If you’re on a morning Southwest or American departure from Terminal A and want more than a pre-packaged sandwich, this is one of the few full-service options on that side of SJC.

Local reporting in 2024 confirmed San Jose Joe’s is one of the restaurants being forced out as the airport refreshes contracts, alongside other long-term tenants. Regulars in town mention they’ll now have to go back to Original Joe’s locations in the city for the same style of Italian-American comfort plates after the airport spot shuts.

Tip: If you’re connecting between Terminals A and B, factor in the 5–10 minute airside walk and only sit down at San Jose Joe’s if you have at least a 60-minute buffer before boarding. Otherwise, grab something to-go near your B gate instead of cutting it close on a tight turn.
