The Club SJC

A · A8 Open · 05:00-12:30 7k sqft 153 seats showers Day pass $55

The smaller Club SJC by Gate A8 is the backup lounge regulars use when the Gate 15 location feels slammed.

This Club SJC sits in Terminal A near Gate A8, in the old Admirals Club space, and runs from 05:00 to 12:30. It is post-security and airside, so you need an A-side boarding pass to reach it. Priority Pass gets you in, and walk-up day passes run about $55 if there is space. Think of it as the quieter sibling of the better-known Gate 15 Club, not a full-service flagship.

The footprint here is smaller than the main lounge by Gate 15, and reviews say that can work in your favor on some mornings. Seating is mostly standard armchairs and small tables, fine for an hour of email before an early 07:00–09:00 departure. Power outlets exist but not at every seat, so grab a plug as soon as you spot one. Sight lines are toward the A concourse, not the runway, so views are of Gate A8 traffic and boarding lines.

Food runs to basic self-serve snacks and light bites, roughly on par with a domestic airline club and weaker than a full meal in the Terminal A concourse. Expect things like packaged snacks, simple cold items, and a small hot option during the morning window before 10:00. Alcohol is included, but the bar selection is limited; think house wine and standard spirits rather than rare labels. If you want a proper breakfast, some travelers hit a terminal spot near Gates A2–A4 first and treat the lounge as coffee and Wi‑Fi only.

Access can be the headache. FlyerTalk posters describe arriving with Priority Pass during peak banks and being turned away at the A8 door because the lounge was capping entries. That means you can pay $55 at the desk only if they still have capacity, and your membership alone does not guarantee a seat. Staff sometimes put PP guests on a waitlist when the larger Gate 15 lounge is already overflowing, which pushes overflow back into Terminal A’s public seating.

Regulars treat the two Clubs in Terminal A as interchangeable and walk between them. If the agent at Gate A8 says there is a Priority Pass wait, many people backtrack toward Gate 15 to check that desk in person, since each entrance manages its own list. The walk between A8 and A15 takes under 5–7 minutes at a normal pace, so it is worth checking both doors before giving up and sitting at your departure gate.

Practical tip: Land in Terminal A, clear security, and check the status board near Gate A8 around 05:30–09:00; if the A8 Club is already restricting PP, head straight to the Gate 15 location first and keep this one as your second shot on the way back toward your A-side gate.
