Sitka’s T1 has no functioning Aero Services lounge
Multiple guides, including SleepingInAirports in 2023, state clearly that Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport (SIT) has no private or pay-per-use lounges, even though some outdated listings still mention an “Aero Services Passenger Lounge.” Treat that name as legacy or placeholder info, not a real option you can walk into.
The airport runs on a single small terminal (T1), with just a handful of gates serving Alaska Airlines and occasional charters. Current guides and airport overviews agree: there’s no staffed lounge desk, no card-network lounge, and no FBO-style passenger lounge that regular commercial passengers can use. If a handler exists for GA/charter on the field, it operates on the aviation side, not as an amenities lounge inside T1.
SleepingInAirports calls out that SIT has “few amenities beyond a restaurant that may or may not be open”, which lines up with reports of limited food hours. That should be your mental picture: one restaurant, a few vending machines, restrooms, and standard seating around the gates. There is no food buffet, no showers, and no bar stocked like a big-hub lounge.
If you’re flying GA or charter and working with a specific FBO or operator by name, confirm with them directly if they have a private waiting room on the airside for passengers. Even then, that would be a contracted service space, not a walk-up “Aero Services Passenger Lounge” like you’d find at bigger airports. For scheduled Alaska Airlines flights in T1, plan as if you have gate seating only.
Because there’s no real lounge, food strategy matters: grab something in town in Sitka proper before heading to the airport, especially for early-morning or late-evening departures when the single restaurant is most likely to be shut. Bring a refillable bottle for the drinking fountains and download content in advance; Wi‑Fi quality in small Alaska stations like SIT can be hit-or-miss.
Practical tip: Skip any booking site or card perk that claims access to “Aero Services Passenger Lounge” at Sitka and do not budget time expecting lounge services; show up about 60–75 minutes before departure and aim to eat or charge devices before arriving at T1.
