Terminal 4 hosts 3 airlines. You'll find 6 dining options, 2 lounges, 1 shop here.

20–30 minutes: that’s the extra time T4 often needs

Terminal 4 sits apart from Changi’s main T1–T3 cluster and you reach it by a dedicated shuttle bus, not a walkway. If you land in T1, T2 or T3 and connect to AirAsia, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Cathay Pacific or Vietnam Airlines in T4, add around 20–30 minutes just for the secure-area transfer. You cannot walk airside between T4 and the other three terminals, so forget the usual Changi terminal-hopping routine.

Layout and check-in basics

T4 check-in sits on a single level, with rows of self-service kiosks and automated bag drops used heavily by AirAsia and Cathay Pacific. Immigration is directly behind the check-in rows, and security screening is centralised before you enter the main departures hall. Once past security, all gates (G1–G21) are in one long pier, and it rarely takes more than 10–15 minutes to walk from the centre retail zone to the furthest gate. If you’re starting your trip in Singapore, arriving 2 hours ahead usually works for regional flights, but add extra if you expect check-in queues for big AirAsia banks.

Lounges: Blossom vs Cathay Pacific

The Blossom Lounge sits near gate G20 and runs roughly 24 hours, used by multiple airlines plus pay-per-use customers. Expect basic hot dishes, showers and a mix of bench and armchair seating; peak banks around 21:00–01:00 can feel crowded. The Cathay Pacific Lounge, closer to the central departures area, opens for specific CX flight waves, typically several hours around the CX714/CX716 departures. Regulars say to save Cathay’s lounge for a proper meal and quiet time, then walk the 5–10 minutes to gates G18–G21 when boarding starts.

Food: from dim sum to fast food

Tim Ho Wan in T4’s transit area is the headline option, with BBQ pork buns, rice rolls and dim sum baskets priced around S$7–10 per dish; lines spike about 11:00–14:00. Crystal Jade Kitchen sits nearby with congee, noodles and Cantonese mains, useful if you need a fuller meal under S$25 per person. Hong Kong Sheng Kee Pau sells quick snacks like char siew pau and siew mai for under S$5, handy for a fast pre-boarding bite within 5 minutes’ walk of several gates.

Quick eats and coffee

McDonald’s in departures stays open late (often 24 hours) and anchors the fast-food side, with breakfast sets from about S$5 and value meals from around S$7. Andes by Astons offers grilled chicken or steak plates typically in the S$15–20 range and tends to be less busy mid-afternoon, after 15:00. Paris Baguette handles the pastry and coffee crowd, with sandwiches and cakes around S$6–8; grab-and-go fridges are useful if you have only 10 minutes before boarding starts.

Shops and essentials

A 7-Eleven in the transit zone covers last-minute basics: bottled water under S$2, snacks, SIM cards and simple toiletries. Duty-free sits closer to the central area, so if your gate is G1–G4, budget 5–8 minutes to walk back for any last purchases. T4 also has automated GST refund kiosks near departures immigration, so keep receipts handy if you’re claiming on higher-ticket buys made in the city.

What regulars do and watch-outs

Frequent flyers on Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, AirAsia and Cathay Pacific typically plan to be at the T1–T3 bus point at least 60–75 minutes before boarding time for T4 flights, factoring in the ride plus any queues. The main complaint: you cannot hop from a T1 or T3 lounge to a T4 gate like you can between the three main terminals, so don’t camp in, say, a T3 lounge past the 60-minute mark. Practical tip: if your inbound and outbound flights both use T4, stay within its secure area, pick a spot near your gate or at Tim Ho Wan, and skip the rest of Changi altogether.
