Sunrise Duty Free

T2

T2’s main Sunrise Duty Free sits airside for last-minute buys

Right after security in Terminal 2, Sunrise Duty Free is the main post-security shop for international departures at Shanghai Hongqiao. It runs along the central concourse, so you pass it on the way to most T2 gates. Layout is standard walk-through: fragrances and cosmetics up front, then liquor and tobacco, with snacks and souvenirs pushed toward the back.

Hours usually mirror the first and last international flights in T2, so expect it open from early morning into late evening. You’ll see the usual big-brand cosmetics and skincare lined up in glass counters, with promos clustered near the main aisle. Prices on beauty and liquor generally track other mainland China duty free stores, so don’t expect deep bargains, but you can reliably grab missing gifts before boarding.

Liquor and cigarettes sit on tall shelving deeper inside the store, with multi-pack cartons and 1L bottles prominent. Check allowances for your destination; staff at T2 are used to transit passengers heading to hubs like Tokyo and Seoul and can usually point to the posted limits. If you want local flavor, look for Chinese baijiu labels and regional teas, which tend to be grouped near the snacks section.

Payment is straightforward: major credit cards, UnionPay, and mobile wallets like Alipay and WeChat Pay are accepted at the main registers. Keep your boarding pass handy; staff scan it at purchase, and they check flight number and passport before bagging restricted items. Quick tip: if your gate is at the far end of T2, shop on the way out of security so you’re not backtracking against boarding calls later.
