Subway

T2

Footlongs and salads in T2 when you’re sick of noodles

Near the domestic gates in Terminal 2, Subway is the predictable option when you want something you recognize. It sits airside after security, so you don’t have to backtrack once you clear the T2 checkpoints for China Eastern or other mainland flights. Signage is in both Chinese and English, and staff are used to handling quick airport orders with carry-on luggage in the way.

Prices run higher than city shops: expect a 6-inch sub around ¥30–¥40 and a footlong closer to ¥50–¥60, depending on fillings. Standard bread choices show up (Italian, wheat, sometimes honey oat), plus local tweaks like extra spicy sauces. Combo deals with a drink and simple side usually land in the ¥45–¥70 range, which is still cheaper than many full-service spots elsewhere in T2.

Turnover in T2 stays steady through the day, but outside the main rush (roughly 11:00–13:30 and 17:30–19:30) you can usually order and go in under 10 minutes. Morning flights see more egg-based sandwiches; after about 21:00, some toppings start to run low, so don’t count on every vegetable tray being full late at night. Seating is limited, so a lot of people just take everything back to the gate.

Go simple on toppings: the cold cuts, turkey-style meats, and tuna-style mix are the safest bets, and the standard lettuce/tomato/onion lineup tends to be fresher than the less common options like jalapeños later in the day. Drinks come in bottles and cans, with soft drinks and bottled tea typically around ¥8–¥15. If you want a made-to-order meal without the wait of a sit-down restaurant, plan on grabbing your sandwich here first, then finding a quieter row of seats near your exact T2 gate.
