Under 20 RMB for a quick snack run at T2’s FamilyMart
Gate-side in Terminal T2, FamilyMart is the grab-and-go stop when you just need fuel and don’t want to sit down for a full meal. It’s a standard Japanese-style convenience store setup inside Shanghai Hongqiao, with shelves of packaged food, drinks, and travel basics you can carry straight to your gate.
Expect prices that track city stores: bottled water around 3–5 RMB, canned coffee and soft drinks in the 5–8 RMB range, and onigiri or rice balls usually under 10 RMB each. That’s far cheaper than most airport cafés in T2, so it’s an easy way to keep a layover spend under 30 RMB.
Food options run through packaged breads, instant noodles, bento-style lunch boxes, and snacks you’ll recognize from city FamilyMarts. Look for triangle onigiri, sausage buns, and pre-made sandwiches in the refrigerated case. Hot water for instant noodles is usually available, so a 6–8 RMB cup noodle can double as a budget meal while you wait for boarding in Terminal 2.
Drinks cover bottled teas, juices, and the typical Chinese and Japanese brands you see downtown in Shanghai. If you need caffeine before an early morning departure out of T2, grabbing a canned coffee or bottled latte here beats waiting in a long queue at a coffee chain. You can also pick up small 350–600 ml bottles to get through shorter flights of one to two hours.
Non-food shelves stock basics like tissues, power banks, travel-sized toiletries, and simple stationery, which helps if something got left at home before your SHA departure. Payment works with Chinese mobile wallets like Alipay and WeChat Pay, and many counters accept UnionPay cards; have a backup card ready if your foreign Visa or Mastercard fails.
Tip: hit FamilyMart in T2 before you head to your gate area if your flight parks at a remote stand; bus gates at Hongqiao don’t always have good snack options nearby.
