First Class Lounge

T2 · G-gates area

Heated toilet seats at the G-gates tell you you’ve found the newer China Eastern space many MU flyers talk about.

This “First Class Lounge” sits airside in T2’s G-gates area, behind security and immigration for domestic China Eastern flights. Priority Pass gets you in, and signage may lean more on China Eastern branding than the English lounge name, so look for MU logos near the G gates rather than hunting for the name on your card.

Hours generally track China Eastern’s domestic bank, roughly from the early morning wave around 06:00 through the late-night departures after 22:00. If you’re connecting into T2, budget around 20–30 minutes from most domestic gates to walk over to the G pier and check in at the desk.

Compared with older MU lounges at Hongqiao, flyers on FlyerTalk call this one “much upgraded,” especially near the G-gates cluster. Expect the usual China domestic lounge setup: hot dishes, snacks, and soft drinks at no extra charge, with more reliable replenishment here than in some of the older rooms closer to other T2 gate areas.

Food rotates through standard mainland staples: think rice, noodles, and a couple of hot trays plus buns and packaged snacks. Coffee comes from a push-button machine, tea from big urns, and soft drinks from a fridge; don’t plan on premium spirits, and treat anything “Western” on the buffet as filler rather than your main meal.

The heated toilets mentioned in that FlyerTalk thread really are the standout quirk here, and they sit in the lounge’s restroom area, not out in the main terminal. Seating runs to the usual armchairs and small tables; it fills around the 08:00–10:00 and early evening waves, but turnover is quick because most flights in this pier are short domestic hops.

  • What regulars do: MU flyers who know the terminal try to route themselves through the G-gate side of T2 so they can use this upgraded space instead of older MU lounges elsewhere in the building.
  • Practical tip: If your boarding pass shows a non-G gate in T2 but departure is more than 1 hour away, walk to the G-gates lounge first, watch the screens there, then leave when boarding shows “go to gate.”
