When EVA or Korean Air bump you, you land here
China Airlines Lounge in SFO International, near gate A1, is the backup option a lot of Asian carriers use when their preferred lounges in A gates are full. It’s SkyTeam-branded but also serves as a contract lounge, so you’ll see a random mix of passengers from different airlines during its short operating window. Keep expectations low; the airport rating hovers around 2 out of 5 for a reason.
The lounge sits post-security in International, on the A side near A1, and only opens 9:30 am to 12:30 pm daily. That three-hour window means many midday and late-night long-hauls can’t use it at all. If your flight leaves after 1:00 pm, you’re likely better off planning to eat in the terminal instead of banking on lounge time here.
Food is basic: think a few hot trays, some packaged snacks, and simple soft drinks laid out on a small counter. Don’t come in expecting made-to-order noodles or a salad bar; this is more “grab a quick bite and charge your phone” than full preflight meal. Beer and house wine usually show up, but premium liquor is hit or miss and rarely interesting enough to justify rearranging your schedule.
Seating runs tight when two flights bank at once, especially for departures around 10:00–11:30 am. You’ll find standard armchairs, a few two-top tables, and scattered outlets that may or may not be working. Wi‑Fi typically rides on the same airport network you get in International, so speed doesn’t differ much from sitting at a gate near A1.
Practical play: if you’re on a SkyTeam or partner carrier leaving from A gates between 9:30 am and noon, pop up for a quick drink and a seat, but eat a real meal in the main International food court first.
