Qatar premium passengers at SFO usually end up here by default
Gate A1 in the International Terminal holds the Air France - KLM Lounge, which runs daily from 9:30 am to 12:45 am. It mainly serves Air France, KLM, EVA Air, and Korean Air, but Qatar Airways often contracts it for their premium cabin customers, so a lot of oneworld flyers only see it when QR is on their boarding pass.
Access is officially tied to Air France, KLM, EVA Air, and Korean Air tickets, with Qatar premium passengers added when a contract is in place. FlyerTalk regulars point out that oneworld elites without a QR boarding pass usually cannot get in, even if they hold Emerald or Sapphire status on other carriers.
Priority Pass is the tricky part: several reports say PP cardholders get redirected to the Golden Gate Lounge in the International Terminal when Air France - KLM is fully contracted out. If you are relying on Priority Pass alone, expect an inconsistent welcome and have a backup spot in mind before you walk all the way to A1.
The lounge sits on the A gates side of the International Terminal, so it is handy for International A departures but a mild hike from the G side and from Terminal 3. Qatar, Air France, KLM, EVA Air, and Korean Air all use this pier regularly, which explains why the room can feel busy around evening long-haul banks.
Frequent flyers on Flyertalk say they rarely pick this lounge over Cathay Pacific or British Airways if they hold oneworld access; they mention weaker food and less comfortable space than CX next door. Several posts in the SFO oneworld lounge thread flat-out say they “don’t even consider” Air France - KLM when a Cathay boarding pass is an option.
What regulars do: oneworld flyers heading out on QR or another partner often walk the few extra minutes to the Cathay Pacific lounge for better buffet and quieter seating, then only use Air France - KLM as a backup when CX is closed, crowded, or not included with their ticket.
Practical tip: if your flight leaves from gate A1–A10 and your only sure access is via a QR, AF, KL, EVA, or Korean Air premium ticket, stop by the Air France - KLM Lounge early; if you are depending on Priority Pass, check the app at least 30 minutes before heading to the A pier so you do not waste time being turned away.
