Last Takamaka rum stop sits airside in International
Right after security in the International terminal at SEZ, Takamaka Bay Bar gives you a final hit of Seychelles’ homegrown rum before you reach the gates. It’s fully post-security, so you can carry drinks and minis straight to your boarding area without dealing with extra checks.
This is more rum stand than full lounge: a tiny counter, very limited stools, and most people drinking within sight of the nearest gate. Prices sit in the mid $$ range, with single Takamaka mixers costing noticeably more than an equivalent pour from a bottle you’d buy in town.
The menu leans simple: think Takamaka with cola, juice, or a basic punch, plus straight shots of different Takamaka expressions. Don’t expect a 20-drink cocktail list or elaborate garnishes; reviewers call out that it’s “simple mixers and shots” built around the local rum brand.
One useful angle here is retail. The stand sells mini-bottles of Takamaka sized for carry-on, and regulars note these can land around the same price as duty free and sometimes cheaper than resort bars. If you forgot to grab a bottle at the Takamaka distillery or in Victoria, this is a functional last-minute backup.
Watch out for the combo of tiny footprint and high pricing. There’s barely room for a small group, so treating this as a sit-down pre-flight bar usually disappoints. A few travellers compare the per-drink cost unfavourably to buying a full 700 ml bottle in town for only a bit more than two airport cocktails.
Regular visitors often do their proper tasting at the distillery earlier in the trip, then use this spot for one “farewell” rum drink or a couple of minis to take home. Smart play: check your gate number first, then swing past Takamaka Bay Bar once boarding time drops under 45 minutes.
