Short-Term Parking at Santa Barbara (Terminal 1) sits directly next to the terminal, about a 1-minute walk from the check-in doors. This is the true “pull in, walk 100 yards, you’re there” option. Think quick drop-offs, meeting an arriving flight, or walking grandparents in without a long curbside goodbye.

Rates start at $0 for the first 15 minutes, then $3 for 16–60 minutes, and $3 for each additional hour, capped at $30 per calendar day. That $30 daily max is steep compared with SBA’s long-term or economy pricing, so using this lot for a full travel day or overnight trip adds up fast. Treat it like a close-in loading zone you can legally linger in, not your default trip parking.

This is a short-stay, first-come, first-served lot, with no reservations offered anywhere at SBA. All airport lots share that policy, so Short-Term can feel tight on Sunday afternoons and later evening banks when multiple flights hit around the same time. If you’re timing a pickup at 8–10 p.m., build in a few extra minutes in case you have to loop once before a spot opens.

Short-Term works best for 1–2 hour visits, like waiting out a 45-minute delay or walking kids to security for a 6:00 a.m. departure. Locals mention it makes sense when you’re dealing with luggage plus strollers or elderly relatives, because that 1-minute, no-shuttle walk really helps. For anything longer than a couple of hours, the math flips in favor of the cheaper long-term and economy lots.

Tip: If your stay will be more than 4–5 hours, park in long-term or economy instead and save the $30 short-term cap for true drop-off, pick-up, or escort duty.
