Liquor and cosmetics tax-free in Terminal 2

DFS Duty Free sits airside in Terminal 2 at San Diego International, right along the main concourse used by most international departures. It’s the standard duty-free setup: liquor, tobacco, beauty, and some chocolates stacked near the center walkway before the long-haul gates. You’ll walk past it if you’re heading toward many of the T2 international carriers.

Expect the usual big liquor labels with duty-free pricing that’s often a few dollars under downtown San Diego stores for 1L bottles. Fragrances and cosmetics from global brands line the center shelves and wall displays, so it’s an easy last-minute stop if you forgot a gift before a flight from Terminal 2. Candy and boxed chocolates sit near the front for quick grab-and-go purchases.

DFS Duty Free generally opens in sync with Terminal 2’s first international bank and runs until the last outbound flights, so think early-morning through late evening. Prices are clearly marked in USD, and staff typically ask to see your same-day international boarding pass at checkout. You’ll need at least 10–15 minutes if you want to compare liquor prices or browse multiple counters.

One practical tip: if you’re eyeing spirits and connecting onward, ask the cashier about STEBs (sealed bags) and your next security check. That matters if your itinerary includes another screening point after leaving San Diego, especially on connections through hubs outside Terminal 2 where 100ml liquid rules still apply.
