Terminal 2 West is where SAN hides its Stone Brewing taps
In Terminal 2 West’s main concourse airside, Stone Brewing doubles as a pre-flight taproom for San Diego’s flagship IPA maker. It sits in the cluster of gates used by Southwest and Delta, so you’ll see a lot of rollaboards and flight crew grabbing a pint between departures. Figure $$ pricing: think craft bar in the city plus an airport surcharge.
Beer is the point here. Regulars call out Stone IPA and Delicious IPA on draft, plus rotating seasonals that change every few weeks. There are usually limited bottles or cans if you want something stronger or a rare release, and some travelers buy cans to-go when their airline allows it. If you care about hops, this is miles better than the generic domestic taps a few doors down.
The food menu runs straight bar fare: burgers, soft pretzels, and flatbreads, with mains sitting in the roughly $15–$20 range. Portions are decent but reviews make it clear people come for the beer and treat food as backup. Vegetarians get fewer choices than at Stone’s city locations, so double-check the menu before you sit if that matters.
Service swings with the bank of evening departures from T2. When multiple flights board in the 6–8 p.m. window, expect slower kitchen tickets and occasionally indifferent attention as staff juggle bar and tables. That said, frequent flyers swear bar stools see faster turnarounds, plus you’re right in front of the taps and closer to the credit card machine when it’s time to bolt for your gate.
You’ll find power outlets and USB ports along sections of the bar, which makes it easy to top off a laptop while you nurse a 16 oz IPA. Prices per pint run high for San Diego but normal for an airport craft spot. Tip: land a seat at the bar, order your beer first, then decide if you actually have time for that burger before boarding starts.
