Bankers Hill Bar & Restaurant

2 · Terminal 2 West concourse ★ 3 $$$$

Terminal 2 West is where SAN hides its closest thing to a real downtown-style sit-down meal.

Bankers Hill Bar & Restaurant sits airside in Terminal 2 West, on the concourse used by most mainline departures. It’s one of the few $$, full-service spots in T2 where you can get an actual plated burger, salad, and cocktail instead of food court plastic trays. Think closer to a neighborhood restaurant than a chain: proper bar, real glassware, and partial tarmac views from some seats.

Menu highlights from regulars: the burger with fries, plus decent salads, along with local San Diego beers and basic cocktails. A Yelp reviewer flat-out said their airport burger and fries were “as good as a regular restaurant,” which is high praise at Gate-Adjacent Land. Expect mains in the mid-teens to low-$20s, with drinks running typical airport prices on top.

Plan time carefully: multiple flyers report service slowing to a crawl when Terminal 2 banks departures around meal times. Figure 45–60 minutes if you sit at a table and order a burger, salad, and a drink; this is not a 20-minute grab-and-go. Food can slip when they’re slammed—lukewarm fries and overcooked burgers show up in a slice of 3-star reviews, which lines up with its overall rating of about 3 out of 5.

What regulars do: grab a stool at the bar instead of a table. Bar seating usually means faster greeting, quicker drink refills, and better odds of getting out in under 40 minutes. Frequent SAN flyers mention a ritual here: burger plus a local beer before evening departures out of Terminal 2.

Tip: if your layover at SAN T2 is under 50 minutes gate-to-gate, skip Bankers Hill and hit something faster in Terminal 2 West; save this spot for a longer sit when you actually have time for a full plate and a proper drink.
