Amex Platinum and Priority Pass both get you into Aeroconnections VIP Lounge 2
This lounge sits near gate 19 in T1 at San Salvador (SAL) and runs long hours, from 04:30 to 00:00 daily. It’s part of the American Express Global Lounge Collection, so Amex Platinum and Centurion holders can enter alongside Priority Pass members. Space is compact compared with big-hub lounges, so think of it as a step up from the main concourse, not an all-day office.
Access rules matter here: American Express lists a maximum stay of 5 hours and caps each adult at 3 complimentary alcoholic drinks. After that, expect to pay at the bar. That makes this better suited to a standard pre-flight wait than a long weather delay. If you’re on a long layover, plan to split time between the lounge and the public seating near your actual gate.
The dress code is listed as smart casual, which is stricter than many Priority Pass lounges in Central America. Think long pants or decent shorts, closed shoes or clean sneakers, and no beachwear. If you’re coming off a surf trip from La Libertad with flip-flops and a tank top, throw a shirt and proper shoes in your carry-on so you don’t get turned away at the door.
You’ll find this after security in T1, walking toward gate 19 on the international side. Signage for “Aeroconnections VIP Lounge 2” appears on overhead boards near the 10–20 gate cluster, so you don’t have to double back far from most Avianca departures. Build a 5–7 minute walk into your timing if you’re leaving from a low-number gate like 4 or 5.
Food and drink follow the usual contract-lounge pattern: basic hot snacks, sandwiches, and a short spirits list with local rum and standard beers. With the 3-drink limit clearly stated by Amex, don’t count on this as your all-evening bar before a 22:45 departure. Use the coffee machine and soft drinks for value, then grab something more substantial in the terminal if you have a late flight.
Practical tip: time your entry so your 5-hour clock covers any realistic delay—aim to check in about 2–2.5 hours before boarding for most Avianca flights from SAL.
