EV Chargers

EV drivers at RNS still can’t rely on clear airport data

Rennes–Saint-Jacques Airport (RNS, Terminal T1) does not publish a dedicated “EV Chargers” car park on its official maps or parking pages, and recent third‑party parking guides list only standard car parks P1, P2 and P3 with daily pricing but no charger counts. If you absolutely need to charge, treat the airport as a “maybe” rather than a guaranteed plug-in stop and plan range so you can reach a public fast charger in Rennes or on the N136 ring road.

Most online tools that track charging points within 5–10 km of RNS highlight general public stations in Saint‑Jacques‑de‑la‑Lande and Rennes city, but none clearly label bays inside airport parking that correspond to an official “EV Chargers” product. Some aggregators mention airport parking generically with prices in euros per day, yet still skip concrete details like connector type (Type 2 vs CCS) or charging speed in kW. That silence usually means any on‑site chargers, if present, are limited and not something regulars depend on before a 06:00 departure.

Because there are no verified traveller reports from 2023–2024 talking about successful top‑ups at RNS, you should assume you may end up parked in a regular bay in P1, P2 or P3 with zero charging available for the duration of your trip. For short 24–48 hour stays, that’s usually fine, but for week‑long parking of 5–7 days, it can be a problem if you arrive with under 20–30% battery and expect to leave with enough range for a 150–200 km drive.

Practical tip: before driving to RNS, open your usual EV app (Chargemap, PlugShare, A Better Routeplanner, or your car’s native system) and pin a fast charger within 10–15 minutes of the airport, then top up there before parking, treating “EV Chargers” at Rennes as a bonus, not a promise.
