Peet's Coffee

RNO’s backup caffeine plan sits at Peet’s Coffee.

Peet’s Coffee operates in the Main terminal at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, but regulars mostly talk about the Starbucks locations when they talk about coffee at RNO. Figure on standard airport pricing: expect drip coffee in the $3–$4 range and espresso drinks a couple dollars higher. If the Starbucks line near your gate snakes past 15–20 people, this is the fallback option to keep your caffeine schedule on track.

The airport’s own concessions list still shows Peet’s among the Main terminal dining choices, but one Reno flyer on Reddit summed up the scene as “Starbucks or nothing,” which lines up with how rarely Peet’s gets mentioned by name. That suggests signage or location isn’t great, so plan a few extra minutes to spot it along the concourse if you actually want Peet’s rather than the green siren.

Menu-wise, expect the usual Peet’s lineup: espresso, drip, cold brew, plus pastries and grab-and-go snacks in the $3–$8 band. Food is mostly packaged or bakery case items, so this is a quick stop, not a sit-down breakfast. If you care about milk options, you usually see at least 2% dairy and one or two alternatives like oat or almond behind the counter; just confirm before you tap your card.

Watch out for early-morning crowding between 5:30 and 8:00 a.m., when RNO banks a chunk of its departures and every coffee stand in the Main terminal runs hot. Service speed depends heavily on staffing; one barista on bar can turn a four-person line into a 10-minute wait. Build in a 10–15 minute buffer before boarding starts if you plan to grab a latte on the way to your gate.

Practical tip: walk the Main terminal once: if you see a Starbucks with a 20-deep queue and Peet’s with fewer than 6 people, Peet’s is the faster path to caffeine and still gets you to your seat before general boarding hits Group 3.
