Peak holiday weekend, Long-Term shows “full,” this is your pressure valve.
Overflow Parking at RNO runs $18 per day, the same daily rate the airport lists for Long-Term Surface in its June 2025 update. It sits about 0.5 miles from the Main Terminal, so think of it as a remote lot that opens when the garage and surface options start to choke up on busy banks of flights.
On the ground, you’re looking at a 15-minute walk to the terminal or a shuttle ride of about 10 minutes. Airport shuttles cycle roughly every 10 minutes when overflow is active, so build at least a 20–25 minute buffer into your schedule once you turn into the lot, especially if you’re checking bags.
The airport’s real-time parking feed updates about every five minutes, and locals lean on it hard. Regulars only swing into Overflow Parking when the Long-Term Garage and Surface show near capacity on that feed, knowing that availability can flip fast with the arrival or departure of just two large flights.
Some flyers pair a prepaid JustPark reservation in another facility with Overflow as the backup plan for a second car on peak days. That way, if Long-Term opens back up while you’re approaching, one driver goes to the reserved spot, the other peels off into overflow and rides the shuttle the remaining 0.5 miles.
Tip: Pull up RNO’s parking status page once you hit I‑580 exit 65; if Long-Term flips to “full” or “near capacity” while you’re on the ramp, skip circling and head straight to Overflow to save 10–15 minutes of stress laps.
