$18 a day gets you on-airport parking without the garage markup
The Long-Term Surface Lot at RNO runs $18 per day, so it’s the usual pick for week-long trips when the Main terminal garage premium doesn’t pencil out. It’s official airport parking, so you’re on RNO property and not rolling the dice on an off-site shuttle schedule or random lot policies.
This is a surface lot about 0.3 miles from the Main terminal, roughly a 6-minute walk at normal pace. No cover, so your car sits in the Reno sun, wind, or snow; you’re trading weather protection for a lower rate than the attached garage. If you park near the pedestrian path toward the terminal, the walk feels shorter and keeps you away from most of the vehicle lanes.
For the June 19, 2025–September 1, 2025 window, RNO’s own update pegs the Long-Term Surface Lot at $18.00 per day, and that same notice says the Overflow Parking Lots are also $18.00 daily. Translation: if the surface lot is full and you’re pushed to overflow, you’re not saving anything by being farther away from the terminal.
If you’re parking for 4+ days, the math usually favors this lot over the Main terminal garage, especially when you factor in that both this lot and overflow sit at the same $18 daily rate. Shorter trips, many locals still eat the extra few dollars to be in the garage, but for a 7-day run you’re easily saving enough here to cover a meal in the terminal.
Tip: aim to arrive at least 20–30 minutes earlier than your usual airport target so you can hunt a spot closer to the terminal side of the Long-Term Surface Lot and keep that 0.3-mile, 6-minute walk from turning into a sprint with bags.
