Relay

Gate-side newsstand stop in Terminal 1

Right past security in Terminal 1, Relay is the main grab-and-go newsstand at Richmond International Airport. It sits along the concourse toward the gates, so you can swing through on the way to boarding instead of doubling back to the main lobby stores.

Relay carries national newspapers, a rack of magazines, and paperback bestsellers, plus Richmond souvenirs and basic travel gear like neck pillows and phone chargers. Prices land in standard airport territory: expect bottled drinks around $3–$4 and snack packs closer to $5–$7.

You’ll also find a cooler with soft drinks, juices, and bottled water, plus candy bars, chips, and grab-and-go cookies that work as a backup if the terminal 1 food spots have lines. Coffee choices are basic drip and self-serve machines, better than the plane but not a substitute for a full café.

Hours typically track the flight schedule, opening early for the first morning departures and closing after the last evening bank, roughly in the 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. range. If you land on one of the last flights into RIC, don’t count on Relay still being open for snacks.

Practical play: top up on water and a magazine here after security in Terminal 1 so you’re not stuck with whatever’s left on the onboard cart once the cabin hits row 20.
