Gate-side grab at 4:30 a.m. in Terminal 1

Hudson News in Terminal 1 opens at 4:30 a.m. and stays open until the last flight, so this is the early-morning lifeline for coffee, snacks, and a magazine before security lines wake up. It sits past security near the main gate cluster, so you can keep an eye on boarding screens while you shop.

This is standard airport newsstand retail: bottled drinks, basic sandwiches, chips, candy bars, gum, neck pillows, phone chargers, and a rack of paperbacks and travel-size toiletries. Prices run higher than street level, but not outrageous by airport standards; expect drinks around a few dollars and snacks in the same range.

You’ll also find local souvenirs tied to Richmond and Virginia—think logo mugs, keychains, and a few T-shirt designs—mixed in with national-brand travel gear. Since it stays open until the last departure of the night, it’s one of the few options left if your evening flight out of Terminal 1 pushes past 9 p.m.

Tip: If you forgot cables or a power bank, swing by Hudson News in Terminal 1 before you sit down at your gate; selection thins out closer to the end of the day.
